Snailarm

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

The short version

  • We keep your account, wake-up records, and the posts and chats you share in squads.
  • Mission photos are checked by OpenRouter and Google Gemini. We do not keep those photos on our own server.
  • Anonymous usage analytics is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings.
  • Profile and squad photos have web links. Anyone who has a link can open that photo.
  • We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you in other apps.
  • You can download, correct, or delete your data inside the app.

Who we are

Snailarm is run by Shubham Soni, an individual based in Indore, Dwarkapuri, India. No company is registered for the app. This policy covers the Snailarm app, the website, and emails you send to our support address. It does not cover Apple, Google, or other websites we link to.

What we collect

Some data stays on your phone. The rest is stored on our server.

Barcode scans and phone motion (steps, shakes, press-ups) are processed on your phone and not kept. The app does not use GPS or ask for location permission. We do not collect contacts, health data, or advertising IDs. We use your data only to run the app, meet legal duties, and fix faults.

Who we share it with

We share data only with these providers. Each one works on our instructions. Several are in the United States. We are still confirming the transfer safeguards for each one. We do not sell your data.

  • Neon: our database and photo storage, on AWS in US East.
  • Resend: sends sign-in codes by email.
  • OpenRouter and Google Gemini: check mission photos.
  • ip-api.com: looks up your approximate location from your IP address.
  • Norwegian Meteorological Institute: weather, using rounded coordinates.
  • Superwall: receives your user ID after sign-in, and your purchase status.
  • Apple and Google: sign-in, speech recognition, and purchases.

AI photo checks

For a photo mission, the app sends two photos to our server: the room photo and the photo taken at alarm time. Our server passes both to OpenRouter, which passes them to Google's Gemini model. The model answers yes or no.

Our server does not save either photo. OpenRouter and Google may keep or use images under their own terms. We are still confirming how long each one keeps them, and whether they use them to train models.

If the check cannot run, the mission counts as passed, so your alarm can still be turned off.

For the Speak mission, the app does not store audio. Your phone's speech service may send your voice to Apple or Google to turn it into text, depending on your phone and settings.

Location

When you open weather or sunrise, our server looks up your approximate city from your IP address using ip-api.com. We keep that result for 30 minutes, under your network range rather than your full IP address. The free version of ip-api.com does not encrypt this request. We are still deciding whether to move to an encrypted service.

Analytics

Setup analytics go to our own server. They do not include your name or email. Each session uses a random ID that is not linked to your account. Analytics starts before you create an account.

The "Share anonymous usage" switch is in Settings. It is on by default, in every region, including the UK and the EU. You can turn it off at any time. Turning it off does not stop sign-in or purchases. We are still reviewing the default for UK and EU users with legal advice.

Photos and squads

Profile photos and squad photo posts are stored in our image storage. Each photo has a web link, and anyone who has that link can open the photo. We delete a photo when you replace or remove it, or when you delete your account.

Squad members can see your display name, photo, streak, average wake time, favourite mission, and whether you got up today if you allow it. They can see your posts and chat, but not your email, alarm times, or location. Only post photos of people who agreed to it.

Children and age

The app is rated 16+ in the App Store and Google Play. We do not check age when you sign up, and we are still confirming how we will find and close accounts of people under 16. If you think a child has given us their data, contact us using the Contact section. We will look into it and delete the data where we can.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it, to limit how we use it, or to receive it in a usable format. You can withdraw consent at any time. If you are in the UK, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). If you are in the EU, you can complain to the authority where you live or work.

How to use your rights

  • Download your data: Settings, Account and data, Download my data. It combines phone data with server data, and leaves out passwords and sessions.
  • Correct your profile: change your name or photo in Settings.
  • Clear your data: Settings, Account and data, Danger zone, Clear my data. This keeps your account and removes your stats and records.
  • Delete your account: Settings, Account and data, Danger zone, Delete account. Enter your password, or type the word shown if you signed in another way. Tick "Also erase alarms on this phone" to remove alarms from your phone. It is off by default.
  • If you cannot open the app: email shubhamsonicse@gmail.com from the address on your account, with "Delete my account" in the subject. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

We reply within one month. For complex requests we may take two more months, and we will tell you why.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your rights at risk, we will tell the regulator and you, as the law requires.
